Ram selection The rams are selected by progeny tests, performance of their daughters (mainly milking abilities and prolificacy) and their characteristics. The rams are measured and given points for individual body parts based on the judging standards given by the Farmers Association of Iceland. Progeny tests are mainly taking growht rate, carcass grading, ultrasound scanning and wool characteristics into account. The rams are transferred to Şorleifskot after a thorough inspection and valuation including blood test performed by veterinarian for the sheep disease control. Rams out of areas which scrapie has been found in are never brought to Şorleifskot.
